Homeless and Homefull Wherever

[Ellie was talking with her Mom and shared this bit of wisdom with us.]

Really, we’ve been homeless all our life – because our real house is with God. I don’t mean we don’t have fun here, but our real home isn’t here. God is with us wherever we go, so we’re still having a lot of fun.

When we gave away a lot of our things I thought I might be sad to not have so much. But God has given us lots of neat places and people to stay with. The people we have stayed with have shared their things with us. Its kinda like we have lots of homes. At first I didn’t think it would be very fun going from house to house. I was afraid of getting car-sick too. But when we actually started it has been a lot more fun than I thought. Actually, God has given us things we never had when we lived in one home – fishing, riding 4-wheelers, a hot-tub. Also, we have been meeting and talking to new people and hearing about God from new people, like the man who was hurt really bad in a war. It was really scary, but pretty cool how God helped him to know that He still loved him.

So far I’ve seen that God really loves us by how He takes care of us and even gives us fun things to do. Jesus didn’t just die for us, He chose to die for us. He gives us a home wherever we go with food and water and toys and lots of stuff. I thank Him for loving us and giving us good things even though we don’t deserve them. I thank Him for good friends and for family.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I will not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.…surely goodness and steadfast love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”    ~ Psalm 23:1-2, 6
