Shield

[Our first blog of 2016 is from the youngest in our family – Ellie, 8 years old. Ellie likes to get up early with Jamie and me to emulate her mother by reading her Bible and then journaling about it. This is exactly what she wrote (with spelling corrections). I hope this gives you courage and strength for whatever you are facing in 2016! ~ Steve]

“But You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the one who lifts my head high.” ~ Psalm 3:3

This verse helps me when I am scared, or sad, or when I feel unsafe. It reminds me that God is always with me and guarding me. Another part that I like is the very end: “the one who lifts my head high.” I need this when the enemy is holding me down. He whispers lies in my ears and covers them so I can’t hear the truth in God’s words. The enemy makes me feel like I am nothing. During this time, God, my shield, tells me what is true. He chases the enemy away and helps me laugh again.
