Gabby: Life Update

Serving God in another country is an experience unlike any other I’ve ever had. There’s something about waking up in an unfamiliar place and feeling so safe because you know that you are there for God. About six years ago if you had asked me to go to another country to teach about Jesus I would have called you crazy, but a lot can happen in six years – or one year for that matter.

In 2015 I had the opportunity to travel to Uganda, Africa with my mom. Up until the moment I stepped foot in Africa I was shaking with fear, but as soon as I walked out of the African airport all of my fear was gone. I knew that this is where God wanted me. I was only 12 years old, but I knew for the first time exactly what God wanted me to do.

“I knew that this is where God wanted me.”

This exact clarity that I felt five years ago while serving God outside of the United States is the same clarity He has given me now. There is a lot of uncertainty when it comes to my life and my future right now. I am surrounded by all of this pressure to do something with my life – go to college, get a sustainable job, etc. But this isn’t what God has ever called me to. I’ve never been one to fit in, but I like to think that it’s because I’ve always known that God made me for more than that. The path God has taken me on and is continuing to guide me through is not traditional, but God says in Isaiah 55:9, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” This gives me complete confidence that what God has in store for me is all going to work out to glorify Him through me.

“God made me for more than that”

What I feel God leading me towards now is a fall semester as a homeschooler/college student at Lone Star College. My hopes are that this would free up my schedule in order for me to focus mainly on mission work, both local and international. I would graduate early in December of 2019 and then pursue the work God has for me in Haiti with an organization called CoreLuv. I would really love to attend a trip to the Haitian orphanage in late July – YES!…this July. I know it sounds absolutely crazy, but it seems to me that that’s how God often likes to work – in crazy ways.

“I know it sounds absolutely crazy,
but it seems to me that that’s how
God likes to work – in crazy ways”

In order for me to have this experience I would need a lot of support, both prayerfully and, of course financially. I would need to raise the funds fairly quickly in order to apply for this trip, probably sometime around mid-July. I would be extremely grateful if you would consider supporting me in some way on this journey God has me on. If you would like to donate towards this trip, you can click on the link below which will direct you to my GoFundMe page. This page explains a bit more of what I will be doing on this trip, although only God really knows what will happen :). If you do decide to donate, know that I am very thankful for your support!

“Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge:
‘God authorized and commanded me to commission you:
Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life,
marking them by baptism in the threefold name:
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you.
I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day,
right up to the end of the age.’”

Matthew 28:18-20 MSG
